Maths solving..?

The ‘Clean as a Whistle Car Wash’ can wash 14 cars an hour. If it is open 12 hours a day, 5 days a week, how many cars can it wash in a week?

  • The ‘Clean as a Whistle Car Wash’ washed 840 cars in a week.

What is the difference between 150 x 150 and 134 x 166?

  • The difference is 256 because

  • 150x150 = 22500

  • 134x166 = 22244

  • 22500 - 22244 = 256.

Joe made a trip from Bluetown to Redtown. On the first day he travelled half the distance between the two towns. On the second day he travelled half of the remaining distance. He then had 100km left to travel. How far is it from Bluetown to Redtown?

  • Its 400km all together because

  • A quarter of the distance is 100km and the other three quarters is

300km and all together it's 400km..?

A cake weighs 1.5kg. If the cake were cut into 5 equal pieces, how many grams would each piece weigh?

  • 1500/5 = 300g

  • So convert 1.5kg into grams gives us 1500g then we divided by 5

= 300

Sue is allowed to watch 40 hours of television each week. If she watches 20 hours during the weekend, how many hours on average does she watch each weekday?

  • So every day she watches tv for 4 hours

  • 40h - 20h = 20h left

  • 20 / 5 days = 4 hours a day.

What is the difference between the sum of the odd counting numbers between 20 and 30 and the sum of the even counting numbers between 20 and 30?

  • 21, 23, 25, 27, 29 odd numbers

  • 22, 24, 26, 28, 30 even numbers

  • So we added the odd numbers = 125 and the even numbers to 150

  • 150 - 125 = 25.

In parking meters downtown you can get 15 minutes parking for 10c. Dad put a 50c and a 20c piece into the parking meter at 3:15pm. At what time did the parking meter expire?

  • It expires at 5:00pm because every 10c will give you 15min

  • 70c will give you 1.45min.

  • So your 70c will take you up to 5:00pm

Freda and Fred ladybird were playing a jumping game on the number line. Fred can jump three numbers at a time; Freda can only jump two numbers. Fred started at 1 and Freda started at 30. If they both jumped together, how many jumps did the ladybird with the least number of jumps make to get to 100?

  • Fred at 33 jumps

  • Freda at 35 jumps

  • 100/3 = 33 r 1

  • 100 - 30 =70

  • 70/2 = 35 jumps

The night ride Narrative......

A man named Jerry was driving home late one night when he saw a young lady waiting at the bus stop. He stopped his car and told her that the busses don't run this late and offered her a ride. It was a chilly night so he took off his jacket and gave it to her, Jerry found out that the lady's name was Mary. After hours of driving they arrived at Mary's house, Jerry dropped her off by the front door and said good night and drove home.

The next day he remembered that Mary still had his jacket, he then drove back to her house and knocked on the door. An old woman answered the door, Jerry told her how he gave her daughter a ride home last night and she still had his jacket. The women looked very confused. Jerry noticed the picture of Mary on the fireplace mantel. He pointed to it and told the woman that's who he gave a ride home last night.

In a shaking voice the woman told Jerry that her daughter has been dead for years and was buried in a cemetery many miles away. Jerry then got in his car and drove to the cemetery when he got to the cemetery he found  his jacket nicely folded on top of the grave and the name on the grave said Mary……....

The creepy story about the stare.....

A girl was on a subway late at night when she noticed a lady staring at her intensely, the women was sitting in between two old men the girl keeped looking away but the women starring never stopped making eye contact it started to freak the girl out. At the next stop a man walked in and sat next to the girl.

The women who was starring paid no attention to the man who walked in and just keeped staring at the girl now this really creeped out the girl the two men that the women were sitting between  never once looked in her direction. The girl then pretended not to notice but each time she looked the women was still staring at her.

At the next stop the man sitting next to the girl got off to leave, and grabbed the girls arm and dragged her out of the subway. The door shut and the subway took off the girl then started screaming for help but then the man said *calm down I just saved your life I didn't mean to scare you  but I had to get u off that subway the woman that was staring at you was dead and the two men beside her were holding her up………….

Narrative writing about the missing bride.........

A young couple just got married. They had a reception with their friends and family, they sang, laughed, and danced all night after the reception they decided to play hide and seek. The husband covered his eyes and counted up to 10 while the bride and the other guests went to hide, the husband then found everyone besides his beautiful bride everybody began to call her name, and searched everywhere for the young women.

The husband began to panic when he had no sight of her. They eventually began to stop looking and assumed she ran away and left her husband, weeks went by and the husband had thought that his bride had second thoughts of marrying him.

A few years later a cleaning lady was cleaning the attic. She then came across a box out of nowhere she opened the box. She then found the corpse of the missing bride who was still in her wedding dress. She accidently locked herself in the box and died from suffocating or starving to death…....

Winning the Bledisloe Cup text

How do these images support the text about the Gocks winning the Bledisloe cup?

What did Mr and Mrs Gock Do to win the Bledisloe cup?

Mrs Gock won when they saved the kumara from dying in New Zealand. They got this award because they’ve been saving and inventing lots of things which changed New Zealand.

What they did with the broccoli

So if you were to take the broccoli out of the ground it will turn yellow but they found a way to turn the broccoli back to green and there way of doing that was butting the broccoli in a chilly bit with ice and leave it in there and then it will turn green.

What did they do with the watermelon?

Mr and Mrs Gock invented having less seeds with the watermelon in New Zealand, it's also something that changed NZ’s fruit and vegetable shop.

What did they do with the grapes?

invented putting stickers on the fruits and vegetables individually. They did this so people would know which fruit/ vegetable is which.

Mr and Mrs Gock saved the kumara, and also got an award/prize for saving New Zealand's kumara.

Mr Gock holds the box with the fresh fruits and vegetables in it, they’re trying to keep the fruits and vegetables cold and they used this box and they’re cooler.

Pale has a piece of string.  He ties the ends together and then tries making the loop into different shapes.
He notices that when he makes an equilateral triangle the length of the sides is 2 centimetres longer than when he makes a square.
How long is the piece of string?     Answer - 24 cm

The things that Mr and Mrs Gock help with in new zealand ?

Image result for why is there stickers on fruit
What did they contribute to new Zealand
Mr and Mrs Gock helped New Zealand in many ways and they were helping New Zealand by keeping our fruit and vegetables fresh. How they helped keep our vegetables and fruit fresh with the broccoli if you were to pick a broccoli out of the ground it would turn yellow but they found a way to keep it green and fresh there way of doing that was butting it n a chilly bit with ice and that's why you see broccoli in a freezer when you go shopping. With the fruit they put stickers on the fruit
If the sticker has a five-digit number beginning with 9, it means that your fruit was grown organically and is best for consumption. How Did the Stickers Come About? It's the International Federation for Produce Standards that gives out the stickers all across the world; it enables standardizing of the process.

Maths solving !!

Amber’s grandmother is cooking a roast for their Sunday dinner. It weighs 4 kilograms and needs to be cooked for 40 minutes for every kilogram of weight. She puts it in the oven at 9.50 am. What time will the roast be ready?

How I got the answer

4x40= 160

160min 2hr 40min

So the roast started cooking at 9:30

And it took 40min but you have to add the

4 kilograms because it doesn't take 40min for the whole roast to cook cause you have to cook the roast parts 4 for times and 4x40= 160 and if you plus 9:30 and 2hr + 40 min that will be 2:40 and that when the roast will be ready.

Morning tea reading ?

Every day after morning tea our class room 7 read for 10 minutes , we all have our own book to read the name of my book is Bulging brains. It is really interesting to read because it tells you and shows you how your brain works !!

research about harakeke !!

1.  Just like people the baby of two flax bushes may have different
Actress from their parents! Seedlings also take longer to mature, about 6-8 years. The plants grown from root
Stock takes about half that time.
When the plant is growing it starts to grow a baby in the middle how it
2. How it starts the grandparents are big flax and if you see a harakeke you will see the ones on the outside of the harakeke are the grandparents and then if you see the ones that are in the middle are the parents of the baby in the middle.
And then the harakeke will start growing into a big flax.
And then if you look on the bottom of the harakeke you will see that they're stuck together and that's one family and then if you look one the other side of the harakeke you will see that there's another flax stuck together and that is a different family but all together it's one big family but its not stuck together.

Harakeke - New Zealand flax | Collections Online - Museum of New ...So this is one family and you can see that in this small family there's 5 and if you look at the back of the harakeke you will see that the harakeke at the back of it is not stuck and that means that it's still a part of the family but it just a different part of the family.

planinng my paragraph !!

1. How long does it take to grow harakeke

2. Why is it tapu to stand on harakeke

3. What is harakeke

4. What type of weaving can you make

5. Were will you find harakeke

Nellie the elephant

Nellie the elephant was at the circus with monkeys and tigers and one day the monkeys They had to have fire sticks and when they had the fire sticks they were doing what they usually do. But when they were throwing the fire sticks one off the monkeys threw the fire sticks and it landed on the sheet of the circus and it caught on fire. Nellie the elephant was so sad. I think that Nelli wanted to leave because of what happened that day. So Nelli decided to pack her stuff and travel to…….. And she wanted to go so that she didn't die in the fire when she was leaving the tigers ask if they could come and Nelli had no choice because they were close friends so she took them with her.

Kauri Description

The story started with Callum getting in so much trouble and suspended in school. His parents then decided to send him off on an annual motorbike ride in the south with Skid, Bazz and his dad. Callum found the motorbike ride mysterious because his parents were always whispering and talking about secrets.  Callum discovered information about his father's family history along with the secret.

His dad took him to a house he didn’t recognize till his dad told him about his step sister Maddie. He was very shocked that he had a step sister named Maddie. After that he stayed with Maddie for a couple of hours till they were curious why Callum’s mum wasn't responding to their calls. So out of Curiosity they started an eight hour ride back home to see if anything was wrong with Callum’s mum.
